In preparation for the upcoming Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj, Indian Railways has announced the launch of 3,000 special trains, including 560 trains on the Ring Rail route. The festival is set to take place from January 13 to February 26, 2025.

IRCTC’s Bharat Gaurav Train Launch

To support pilgrims attending this significant event, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) West Zone has initiated a special 'Bharat Gaurav train' service that connects Pune to Prayagraj. This train will operate from January 15 to February 23, as part of the ‘Mahakumbh Gram IRCTC Tent City’ offering, facilitating a comfortable journey for devotees.

This initiative is part of the Central Government's 'Dekho Apna Desh' programme, which aims to boost domestic tourism. Since its launch, the programme has facilitated 86 train services across the country. The 'Bharat Gaurav train' includes a complete package with travel, meals, and accommodation, catering to the massive influx of pilgrims attending one of the world's largest religious gatherings.

About the Bharat Gaurav Train

The 'Bharat Gaurav train' features 14 coaches with a capacity for approximately 750 passengers. Its route includes important spiritual destinations such as Varanasi, Prayagraj, and Ayodhya. Boarding points are conveniently located at Pune, Lonavala, Karjat, Panvel, Kalyan, Nashik, Manmad, Chalisgaon, Jalgaon, and Bhusaval, ensuring accessibility for travelers from various regions.

About Mahakumbh Mela 2025

The Kumbh Mela is celebrated every three years, while the Ardh Kumbh Mela occurs every six years, and the Maha Kumbh Mela every twelve years. The last Mahakumbh Mela took place in 2013, followed by the Ardh Kumbh Mela in 2019. The 2025 Mahakumbh Mela will specifically occur in Siddhi Yoga on January 29, attracting devotees from around the world, particularly those devoted to Sanatan Dharma. This grand festival is marked by a diverse crowd of saints and pilgrims, all seeking to participate in the sacred bathing rituals at the confluence. The Mahakumbh represents a remarkable gathering where participants aim to immerse themselves in the spiritual energy of this holy event, often referred to as Mahasangam.
